Campbellfield is currently home to the Ford Australia's Broadmeadows Assembly factory on Sydney Road. Built in 1959, it is where the current Falcon and Territory models are manufactured. Last October 2016, the factory was closed with the lost of 650 jobs.

Campbellfield is also an industrial and business suburb, with various industrial areas and business parks around the suburb.  The suburb has one public school (Campbellfield Heights Primary School). There are currently no private or high schools. Campbellfield is also home to Olympic Fitness Equipment.


Campbellfield still needs improvement in transport and livability.  By statistics, Campbellfield is in the top 4 of Melbourne's most crime-ridden suburbs and bottom 5 of Melbourne's most liveable suburb.  

The suburb has one public school (Campbellfield Heights Primary School) and there are currently no private or high schools.

Campbellfield has a strip of shops on Barry Road known as fordgate shops or Upfield.  It also has a small shopping plaza on Sydney Road, which contains a K Mart discount store, Coles Supermarkets and an Officeworks, as well as various take-away restaurants along Sydney Road. Campbellfield is also home to Olympic Fitness Equipment.

Railway stations that are nearest to Campbellfield are Upfield station on thUpfield line, located in nearby Upfield, and Broadmeadows station, on the Craigieburn line.

It was officially declared a city by Queen Victoria, whom Lord Melbourne was close to, in 1847.  In 1851, it became the capital of the newly founded colony of Victoria.

In the 1850’s, during the great Victoria Gold Rush, Melbourne was transformed into one of the world's largest and wealthiest cities.

Melbourne rates highly in education, entertainment, health care, research and development, tourism and sport. It has been voted the World’s most liveable city for six years in a row up until 2016.
